New engine. Clutch question:

im about finishing up to install the new bottom engine block with new clutch etc. is it normal because the clutch is new that the engine keeps turning (spark plus out) even though the clutch is pulled or the lever pressed in complete with the finger (maybe until the engine turned a few times under fire)?

Its probably just because I had no spark plug installed and no compression

If you mean to ask if it's normal for the clutch to drive the motor while the clutch is pulled in the answer is no.

If that's your problem, first check your clutch cable. If pushing the clutch arm with your finger disengages the clutch, adjust the cable. If you can't get it to disengage, check the flower nut adjustment. If you still have no luck, make sure your bucking bar and 8mm clutch bearing are both there.

It seems like because the clutch have never been used it "shuffled" enough to turn the engine without spark plug but with spark plug it seems to work pretty much normal. About to install the carb and all cables and going to get gas.

If it turns over the engine at all, even without compression, then it's probably just a smidgen too tight. I would adjust it before attempting to pedal any significant distances.

in my experience, its completely normal for the engine to turn over with the plug removed and the clutch lever out. its because there is no compression. in fact, the easiest way to check for spark or compression is to remove the plug and roll the bike with the clutch out. to check for compression, put a thumb over the plug hole and roll the bike with the clutch out. if your thumb gets pushed out of the hole, you have compression. to check for spark, either put the plug against the head or put your thumb between the plug and head. roll the bike with the clutch out, and you will either see the spark, or feel a little zap if you have your thumb on it. it wont hurt.

Thats exactly what Im doing too. To check the spark I lay it with the nut on the stud and move the bike a little without pulling the clutch. It didnt turn on last night but it seems like for some reason it doesnt get gas now.
