new at this need engine size help

I just bought my first engine. Ordered it online as a 80cc kit. When I opened the box the sticker says 69 cc made in China.
I called the shop that sent it thinking they sent the wrong one.
I was told that its the difference in the way they measure them.
Is this true or am I being ripped off?
I need to know before I mount it just in case I need to go kick some a##.
 
They told you the truth. There are no true 80cc engines. The displacement is measured differently by the manufacturer than we do here. We only consider the bore and stroke. They include the combustion chamber in their calculations for marketing purposes. Your 69 cc engine is identical to what is sold as an 80cc, of which there isn't any.
