Need help with J shaft

I wanted to install the engine in the middle so the space looks full. I don't trust such a long chain, I would like to install a J shaft, can any body tell me where to get the parts I need for it.

If you live near a Tractor Supply Store, they often have stuff for making Jack Shafts as well. It is fun to wander around and get ideas there too.
