I've got the engine mounted to the frame, but I just remembered the sprockets don't line up.

does anyone know if I can move the engine sprocket closer to the frame or do I have to make a jackshaft for it to run?

Welcome to the forum.
Short of off-setting the engine - which is never really an option - you won't have any luck moving the engine's output sprocket to line up with your rear sprocket. I think you already figured some kind of jackshaft arrangement will be necessary - assuming there's room in your bike's frame.
Too many ponderables here, such as which Lifan 125 engine are we talking about?, what frame is it mounted in?, for anyone to offer useful advice. It would be helpful if you could post some photos showing your install.

Good advice Pete two things that shouldn't be compromised. Engine balance & a perfectly straight chain line.
