Was going through a DVD of old family pictures (copied from slides no less) and ran across this one of my oldest brother on some kind of scooter. He looks to be about 12 or 13 so I'm guessing it was taken around '62 or '63.

Anyone know what the scooter is????

Does look like the type of fork Cushman used on some of their scooters, but I never heard of a scootmobile. Maybe re-badged? Does the name scootmobile ring a bell?

Gotta be prewar, late 30's early 40's, I speculate there were few made during WWII that survived, no hard facts there, just a guess, quite a bit before my time.

Joe send me a popular mechanics that had a set of directions to build a scooter that looked a lot like that one. The suggestion was that defense worker build it and ride to the plant to work to save gasoline.

Geeze deacon, I forgot all about that!
Yeah, maybe the "scootmobile" was the builders name?

Well thanks bairdco for your good eyes, it is a Scootmobile sold through Spiegel's!

I knew it wasn't a "DoodleBug...I had one when I was 9...Looked like a small Cushman Eagle. Even had a tank that was very similar to the peanuts we're all familar with today.
