Monark II on Skyhawk GT2 frame?

Has anybody put Monark II forks on a Skyhawk GT2 frame? I thought it'd be as simple as using reducer cups to have a 1" steering tube in the 1 1/8" neck, but nothing appears to fit properly. Anyone done it and have any advice?

I think they are the Abe's. I have the monarks and the linkage at the bottom looks different. Venice Motor Bikes posted a pic of his bike on facebook and it looks like he is using the Abe's also.
