Mini dirt bike chain size?

Well I seemed to have managed to answer my own question, so for use of reference here is what took me around 10 hours to find out and conclude with. All the sizes below are pitch measurements.

#219 chain is not the same size as the often refered to 8mm chain

#219 chain is .306" pitch which is 5/16" this is an imperial chain obviously and measures 7.774mm

8mm chain is by code T8F or BF05T, this is a genuine metric chain at 8mm 0.315"

To finalise in answering the question that I set out to answer, #219 chain and sprockets that are commonly used on go karts cannot be used with the 8mm sprockets that are used with mini dirt bikes and some scooters. All of these chains are used for cam timing chains so are very abundant so could be a good alternative if a special sprocket range is needed.

#219 sprockets seem to range from 9 teeth to 105 teeth
