Was wondering how common this problem may be. I use a shift kit so the rear wheel is driven from the right side. The chain stay broke lose at a lighting hole by the rear drop out. The seat stay was also starting to break away as well. I filled in the lighting hole and welded in a piece of flat iron where the seat and chain stays meet. I don't have any pictures of the break. However I didn't do anything to the left side so I can show the difference between how it looked before and what it looks like now. The frame is a steel one.

I expect it's due to your rack mount moving the loads rearward compared to a normal in-frame style mount.
I've never seen one break there before but your fix looks good to me.

Thank you, BarelyAwake and I had talked about it some through PM. I was just wondering how common of a problem it may be. Also do higher speeds add to it.
