How 'Bout Them Apples

This was a good year for my backyard apple tree ... lots of apples. Most fell to the ground in the fall, as usual, but there's still a good bunch hanging on the tree even though it's mid-winter. They're just hanging there ... pretty much rotten ... frozen with snow on top (pics below). I don't recall seeing this before. Anybody know whasup?
Curious in Michigan,
(?)

PS: Yes ... I am bored enough to photograph rotten apples. That's what happens when you've been in the cold too long ... you get colorful.
:p

Those look ripe for cider. Thaw em out, toss some yeast on em and you'll be snockered in no time.

Or get snockered and take more pictures. I'm good with either.

Reminds me of the scene in 'Good Will Hunting' when Matt Damon asks the collage dude if he likes apples. The guy says, "Yeah, I like apples." then Damon says, "Well I got her telephone number. How do ya like those apples?" Love that movie.
