So on screwing in the fuel valve under the tank when assembling my kit, I discovered the all-important red washer was not anywhere to be found. What was worse, every time you screw it on without the washer (tried 11 times) the valve always ends up on the inside, which is a huge hassle to reach while sitting on the bike.
I finally ended up using a very thin brass washer and using pipe dope on both sides and on the threads. I used Harveyseal's Formula 55 Gas Sealant. I'm well aware they meant natural gas not fuel lines, but it also says it seals liquids up to 6000 PSI.
It does not say if that includes gasoline, but I would assume so. I am after all an innocent lamb here on my first kit.
Anyone care to call a foul? Let me know or I'll hit the road and hope, you know.
