With the warm weather drawing to an end I put away my gas/electric bikes and bought myself a bike for the coming snowy season. The fat 4 inch wide tires on this bike are inflated to 65 psi to minimize rolling resistance but I am planning to reduce that by quite a bit and use the bike for biking on snow packed trails this coming winter. I have since tried riding on the frozen white stuff and I have to report that it was not much fun because the bike was far to fast for those conditions. The only solution I can think of is turn off the electric assist and pedal it in a much lower gear. I since did a test in snow with the assist level reduced to zero but the assist was still effective. The next time out I will turn off the battery key and see how it goes.
