European Style Crank Extensions

I know they make wide European Style Cranks, but I was wondering if it could be done something like this?

As you can see in the image above there is an extension attached to the crank shaft and the crank arms attached to the extensions. Would this work or do you think it would be to weak at the point it attaches to the shaft?

I'm pretty sure it would fail draco. Too many ways for movement which is death to crank arms. I've tried this once and it failed very quickly. Might last longer if done better (mine was a quick hack fix)but I doubt it. Theres just too much stress on this area. Even welding them on didn't work.
