Engine failure, oil mix ratio and other data

Hi
I am reading posts about engine failure, and I think it would be useful for the forum to know more details like the oil mix ratio, intake air leaks or other data
I seized my engine and autopsy revealed a broken ring
I had an intake air leak for some days and oil mix ratio was 40:1, use was daily commuter use, flat streets at almost wot

The air leak + little oil + high rpms will surely lead to motor damage.

I use 32:1 and if the bike has an air leak, it gets fixed before riding.

There was a confusion
My engine has the piston and rings ok
Seems that the failure is in the bottom end
My local representant offered to give me a new engine
I miss my mb
 
WoW!!! What a warranty. Mine was 30 days. I hope I do not have a seizure. rotfl I don't think I would be as lucky as you to get a complete replacement. You should except his offer and really advertise his generosity to others. We need more people to back their products like this. Have fun. (^)

You are VERY LUCKY if the seller will replace the engine under warranty after that kind of total abuse.

Keep us posted as to how you make out.

I saw the disassembled engine yesterday
A ball bearing failed, causing it to seize now and then
Other than that the engine is ok
Both china bearings will be replaced with japan Koyo units (seller pays)
I told the seller that I want to keep this particular engine, because it is already broken in and will have japan ball bearings
Oil mix ratio and break in procedure was by seller suggestion
I asked the mechanic, and judging by the sparkplug and combustion chamber he suggested to use more oil
So
I hope to have my bike ready for today (or tomorrow)
And will use 30:1 oil mix

My MB is back!
Tried it this morning, feels smooth
30:1 fuel oil ratio and a B6HS spark plug are the next upgrades

i dont understand whe we are suppose to use 30:1 ratio when the oil nowadays is good for 50:1
is it not the lubricating factor of the oil that determines ratio?

for example i had an old cat snow mo back in the day
factory called for 20:1
but i used 50:1 (cat dealer suggestion) because the oil now is that much better.
 
You can use any ratio you want...it's a matter of personal preference and like having a (mental) safety net under your tightrope.
