Quick fix for the locking choke mechanism. The locking arm attached to the top of the carb where the throttle cable enters is held on by a pressed in pin. That pin is going to vibrate loose and fall out, making you hold your choke down with one hand while trying to start the bike. Did it to me anyway. Solution....
1. Go to the hardware store and grab a #2 by 1/2" wood screw, get 2 they're only 11 cents each. Be sure and brag to the cashier about what a big spender you are as you hand them your quarter.
2. Remove the pin if it hasn't fallen off already, when you take the top off the carb be mindful of the teeny, tiny little spring and there's an even smaller ball there too.
3. Take that arm and a 3/32" drill bit and make the hole in it a little bigger. (Don't have a 3/32" drill bit?, c'mon you were just at the hardware store!)
4. Start the screw into the plastic, watch for it to start to poke through where the arm goes, when it does, Stop!
5. Put a drop of superglue or use a toothpick to smear some Loctite on the exposed threads. (The toothpick also works good for getting RTV into and around the rubber boot in front of the magneto)
6. Put the ball, spring and arm back where they go and tighten down the screw and then you're done.
Enjoy your carb and happy motoring!
