Here are some clearer pictures of the grinding done to allow #40 hd roller chain to fit the ht motor.
The chain on this engine runs nice and quiet with this mod.
The chain is about $20 bucks for a box long enough to do two bikes.
Here is the inside of the sprocket cover and clutch arm boss.
Here is how much room is left with the HD chain.
The notch gives room between the chain and inside case.
The white stuff is grease for the bucking bar.
I forgot to get a pic, but I also greased the primary drive and clutch gears as well. Do this every few weeks and it runs nice and quiet. My bevel gear still looks like new after several thousand miles doing this.
