deacon minor bike philosopher Feb 6, 2009 #2 In theory you can but you need a really stable platform. How well it would work I don't know sometimes i had to pedal mine half a block. I'm not sure I could do that much standing beside the bike.

jasonh New Member Feb 6, 2009 #3 simple answer - yep. This is how I start my bike. Just lift the back via the seat, and kick the pedals. usually just takes a few kicks. Just make sure the bike is in it's lowest gear.
