Bragging about my heat shield invention

I kept burning my leg on the head so I designed this. Not only does it protect my leg but acts as a heat sync as well. If the bike isn't moving it gets a bit hot but not nearly as much as the head. When riding it's totally cool.
It's just an aluminum strip I bought from Lowe's for about $4.

Pretty good idea there.

It occurs to me that that could also be modified into a brace that helps hold the engine in place. That could be useful.
 
That idea is genious, something that bikeberry would sell for $20 a piece..

For your images, it's a good idea to upload them with a third party uploader, such as http://imgur.com

Interesting.. I see no holes for fasteners, so it's just a friction-fit? (wedged in there?)

A pair of holes drilled in the top and a U-bolt over the top bar, much like the 'oversize mounting kit' might be a good mod for the '2.0' version.
 
Originally I was going to bolt it in but I didn't want anything sticking out to catch my leg or pants. Half way through the first version I realized I could do it with just tension so I abandoned the bolt or all-thread idea.

I made this one tall enough that it wedges against the frame so it's in there nice and tight, doesn't rattle or shake at all.

It really works well. Rather than burning the $#!% out of my leg the second it touched the head, this is just warm enough to remind me not to rest my leg there.
