Probably modified De Dion Bouton’s.
They were an early auto & cycle manufacturer from France. They started mass producing Tricycles in 1896.
Their exported engines were a popular choice for several other early motorcycle companies.
Here’s a couple of pics I took at last summer’s Davenport show. If I recall correctly this was built in 1898.
