AC Motor

I will be putting the finishing touches on my diy mini generator, should put out about 1000 watts AC if it works like it is supposed to. Has anybody messed around with AC motorized bikes? I am thinking a rack mounted generator and an AC motor would be cool. I know not the most efficient, but a fun concept.
 
im a gas guy myself but ive done a good amount of industrial electrical/mechanical work.... im just curious how you are planning to control the motor's speed without overheating the motor....variable frequency drives work but are very pricy.....now if you rectify the ac to dc it is much easier to control the amperage....kinda curious what your plan is....not trying to be discouraging....good luck
