gear internal hub

There's a pretty large market for motorised bicycles. Why doesn't someone make an internally geared coasting hub for the left hand side of the bicycle, making jackshafts inferior? It almost seems too easy... like a bicycle hub but with a conventional sprocket on the right for pedaling, and a...
