Co2 cannister as gas tank?

Always looking for fuel tank options. This Co2 cannister, with proper cleaning, could be ready for draincock, and a filler tube of some sort. I'd mount it on the rear rack. Not sure of the weight- it's not too bad though.
Any ideas? Suggestions on methods, or hardware? Might as well do it right the first time...

Looks like aluminum? Any welding would require someone with the skill. Other than that, go for it.

Aluminum indeed. My thought was to drill and thread in a draincock. Also considering the type that has leak proof washers and nuts on the inside and outside, to produce a pressure seal.
With a gas cap that has a long enough neck, I believe I could get away with just threading into the thick cannister, without adding a filler neck at all.
 
Typically those tanks have a thick wall. Something close to 1/4". That makes threading in a petcock feasable with a little care.

BTW the 'age and treachery...' thing, was something my dad used to say. He was a Yankee, Cardsharp, Seabee, and usually right. Damnit!

Anybody have a non-welding solution to a filler neck on this tank?
