I just got a new 40mm crank motor from dax on friday. I have 3 other motors from dax. i have one on my bench and on my 2 bikes. This motor seems to be the odd ball of the 4 motors I now have. I would like to get some input from any other dax owners out there.
Specs on new motor:
-6mm cylinder studs
-Studs have 1.0mm threads on one end and 1.25mm threads on the other
-8mm stud holes in cylinder
-Connecting rod marked ZAF80
-Piston has high wrist pin hole
-Piston marked #2
-Caged bottom end bearing
Old Motors:
-8mm studs with 1.25mm threads
-Low wrist pin hole
-Unmarked Connecting rod
-Caged bottom end bearing
What motor did I get? The specs of this new motor matches some of the GT5's out there. I've boughtall my motors from dax because I've gotten a consistent engine that I can swap parts from without a second thought. I don't know if I am bummed out or not yet. I am curious to know if it has the 6202 or the 6203 ball bearings in it.
Here is a video explaining the different rod and piston combinations:
