That "thin shiny metal stuff" is commonly known as chrome and it ain't 1/16"
thick. it's as thick as chrome...

Why don't you try peeling a piece off??

I posted a pic of a Chinese steel liner on a 50 cc. Did you look at it?

For the inferior cooling of a china jug mebbe. I never took my 5.8 Morini apart but I checked it when it was new through the exhaust port and a magnet stuck.
IF it is steel it's chrome plated
Morini Franco USA

ENGINE Two-Stroke Single Cylinder
CYLINDER Light alloy with chromium plated liner w/6 scavenge ports

Do you see a steel liner?

Wow, there is only one ring on the 11 HP water cooled piston

Is that the jug to the 5.8/9.4 the fins look different shape and color from mine dunno? I dare any one to check theirs with a magnet. I did not make up the magnet story. I never said it was not chrome plated ether.

I got my motor from Franco Morini too. Dunno if that is supposed to mean something. Magnet stuck that's all I know. China cooling is truly inferior to this pigs fins.

Answers.com - Is chrome plating magnetic

Chrome isn't magnetic but the metal substrate generally is.

i just took the head off my Grubee Skyhawk, GT-5, made 9-20-09, and it's definitely not steel. it's chrome plated.

i tried sticking a magnet to it, and it didn't stick. i was gonna take a picture of that, but it's impossible to take a still photo of a magnet not sticking.
Perhaps the china is not chrome its just nickle.
