Im okay with engines! I rebuilt a ride on craftsman mower engine once. If it doesnt work out its only $40 and ill try to talk him down alittle more because of that risk unless he can show me it running smooth.

Would that Comet Torg-A-verter fit this engine? I really like the idea of eliminating the jackshaft. Simpler and easier is better for me. Im still on learning.

I'm sure you can order a Comet to fit anything.

My personal experience with one was on the 200cc predecessor to the HF 212 and I am quite pleased with the results!

It’s quick and fast with a Mikuni carb on a otherwise stock engine.

Overall it was a pretty inexpensive build (way more than $250 though, Ha!)

I modified a freebee Tomos moped hub and fabbed my own engine mounts.

Thats an amazing build. I think Ill go for the engine and put the time into it to get it how I want. Usually I put the 2 strokes on and build them around the frame but this time I want the engine looking good too. Am I going to have a fab a mount or can I go to that gokart site and get one??

I can’t offer advise about the mounting kits that are available, I’ve always taken the diy approach and I’m just not familiar with the options.

But one good thing about a bolt on kit would be the fact that you’re not permanently altering a nice vintage bike.

I would love a parts list if you could do that!! im going to call the guy up now and see if I can get it bought today!! I can always sit on it and start stripping it down.

Do used Comets come up at all? Again cheaper is better but I also really like the look of it

****Update*****

Buying engine tomorrow!

Ill only be into it for $40 so I can always sell it off and get my money back if im in over my head

Honestly I’m not sure my parts list would be very helpful since I did so many extra custom touches-

For just one example I machined a longer secondary shaft for the Comet and ran it though a supporting pillow block bearing so I could get both chains on the right side. That's actually a lot of work just for the sake of style.

With the correct rear hub that wouldn’t be necessary.

If you are patient, you may be able to find some things as you have done today with that Honda engine you are acquiring now.

Love that site. Why is the honda too tall? If i can get a wide crank and deep mount it wont fit??

I have 14" of clearance. If I can get a wide crank and small chainring? Slowbalt your probably right and maybe ill hang onto the engine for the mountain bike i wanted to built with the deep U

On honda is say 13"! I've seen alot of people put heads on them that are much shorter probably shortening it half an inch up to an inch so when I get it to I see if I can get it in there

I would still buy that engine at that price if it’s in good condition.

Perhaps it could somehow be made to fit, and if not you could still resell it at a profit to help fund another one...

im in love with that build! Same engine but he makes it look KILLER! That was my plan slowly to make it look like that. I just dont no where or how he got that head.

He just has a lot of clearance on that frame so maybe ill cut up the Higgins and get someone the weld the frame with the deep U

I could put the honda on that and put that 2 stroke on this--- but only if it doesnt fit

Anota I don't think he purchased a head. what he did was make a rocker box (valve cover) to replace the stock tin and give it a flathead look! He may have machined the head also not sure....Perhaps you could ask him yourself.

I looked him up. You can send a message here: https://www.youtube.com/user/vrgt2003/about
