Re: Vintage Bicycle Item Quiz
Great thread! Any thoughts on or history of the first kits? Made to add to a bike. I keep thinking they were WW2 English. Am I wrong?

Dan, buddy, I don't have enough time to truly research this now, BUT Whizzer started in Los Angeles in 1939, and they were "copycats" in a way themselves.

By WW2 MANY motor add-on kit companies had already come and gone, including a motorwheel made by Briggs and Stratton, to either use on mini-buckboard (read early go-kart), and bicycle versions.

Yes in Brittan, Germany, and other places there were many engine kit companies.
