i just need to vent, to explain, and to type while i'm waiting for my roomate to get out of the bathroom so i can use it.
number one: there's a search feature. use it. if your sprocket doesn't fit, you're four-stroking, your bike's a piece of crap and you're wondering who else bought that piece of crap and how they fixed it, it's all there. just type "my bike's a piece a crap and i want it to go fast" into the search box.
two. you don't need to post the same question multiple times. c'mon, mot of you grew up with the internet. when i hit "todays posts" and see the same guy with the sprocket problem (see number one) post 4 times about it, it just makes my scrolling finger tired.
three. new guys giving advice. sure, advice is good. but if your bike's not running well because it got wet or a rhinocerous crashed into it when you were riding it through the zoo, it might not be because your magneto went bad. spending money on parts that are working fine is the lazy-a$$ mechanics way out. learn to actually troubleshoot a problem. i see so many fuel related problems being diagnosed as cdi's and magnetos by people who don't even know what cdi stands for that it just makes me not want to help anyone anymore.
these motors ain't to tough to figure out. they've got less moving parts than an electrical toothbrush. use the basics, common sense. if your motor quit running because your plug wire broke off a week ago and you rigged it with a coat hanger, that's the first thing you check. you don't buy a new clutch.
ockham's razor. if it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it ain't the GD magneto, it's a duck.
four. you never went 50mph and niether did your buddy.
5. walmart is not a bike shop. on the same subject, bike shops are not bike shops anymore, either. they're bike stores. you can't polish a turd. if you buy an $85 dollar bike, it's never gonna be more than that.
6. bicycles haven't changed much in 120 years. if you haven't figured out the basics of how they work, maybe you should take a little time and study them before you decide to bolt a motor on to one. the same goes with the 2 stroke motor. it's simple, it's necessary, and it helps you solve your own problems.
7. be creative. if a part doesn't fit, figure out why, and how to make it fit. don't whine because some custom part manufacturer hasn't sent you the goods yet, make your own. it doesn't take much. obviously, there's somethings you won't be able to do, but with a little effort, and less video game thinking, you'll get it. not everything's gonna be handed to you or shipped to you from ebay. you want a trouble free bike? send me a couple grand.
8. i can't think of 8 right now. i'll have to come back to it.
in closing, i just wanna say, i'm not trying to be a prick about anything i wrote above, it's just common sense. use your head. i mean, seriously, hit "new posts" and there's 3 questions from people that can't get their coaster brake arm off, 2 guys who's exhaust's hit their cranks, 17 people who wanna know which walmart bike is better, the huffy or the schwinn, there's so much bad advice from people who built one bike and aren't really chinee-motor scholars, and so many questions that could be, and have been, answered already, and could be found with a few keywords...
it's driving me freakin' batty.
i guess that's all i want to type for now. feel free to heckle me. it's ok, i have a sense of humor...
