Hi.

I need to take off the jackshaft hit from a motorized bicycle. how do I take off the actual jackshaft itself from the metal mounting plate? (the rod that is attached to the two sprockets) I tried looking for other threads but I haven't found anything.

thanks

There should be a small set screw (maybe even 2 or 3) in each of the sprockets.

1) Make sure those are loose.

2) Remove one of the sprockets.

3) Slide the jackshaft out of the mount.

If neither of the sprockets will come off, double check to see if there isn't a set screw hiding from you.
If you are sure you have loosened all the set screws, you will need to use a hammer and punch (or similar) to tap the jackshaft out.
Don't hit it too hard, you may damage the mount.

If you are replacing the jackshaft (recommended), it's best to file a notch where the set screw contacts the jackshaft.
This keeps the sprocket in place more securely and also facilitates easier jackshaft removal in the future.
