I tightened my clutch cable too tight the other day and rode for about an hour. now the bike is producing a grinding noise and has lost a substancial amount of power. ive since loosened the tension on the cable, but the grinding is getting worse. not sure if i permanently injured the mechanism or not. any suggestions for fixes or parts that might be in question?

Remove the clutch actuator cover and lubricate the cam, bucking bar and the ball bearing that goes in behind the bar. Check for signs of wear on the bar and bearing and replace them if badly damaged.

The bucking bar is the steel pin which protrudes from the center of the drive sprocket. There is a ball bearing in the same hole. They need to be lubricated with a good grade of bearing grease, not oil.

Not sure why you're seeing a loss of performance unless the clutch pads are worn. Is the clutch slipping? Engine sounds like it's revving but not pulling the bike?
