OK, as an OLD guy-(53)- I thought this would be an easy build,-man how things have changed !
I got a few skyhawk frames, the neck will fit a 1 1/8 tube, but all I have are 1" tubes from my donor bikes, ! WTF ?
now, I have some 1 1/8 steel that I can weld over the 1" tubes, BUT-I have to find a 1 1/8 die to thread the top end bearings on ! damn ANOTHER TOOL ?
well, YES, to do it right,- BUT I think I will just extend the tube collar an inch or three?---ANY THOUGHTS ?

2nd) question,- like I said, FNG,(be gentle!)- the REAR sprocket - what is the general rule ?- more teeth more tork ? less teeth, more speed ?

OR versa visa ?:-||

Re: a few FNG question's !

1. There are no threads involved with the headset on a threadless semi-integrated headset which is what the skyhawk frames use. You can either get funky with some welding like you say, or just get a cheap fork with a 1 1/8" steerer. I'd opt for getting a fork, something like this can be had cheap: http://www.amazon.com/FORK-MTB-UNI-HITEN-260xTDLSx28-6x30-0BK/dp/B002I7IC62/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1439928132&sr=8-5&keywords=26%22+fork

2. Pretty much.

Maybe take some pics of what you've got for donor bikes and we can offer up some better tips?

I get weird parts when needed at one of the used bike shops - seats a buck, strange length kickstands a buck, front forks 15 bucks, . . .
