29 er and shifter kit

Looking to get a new bike. Looked at my newphews 29" mountain bike. Looks like not much room betwen the seat post and tire to mount shift kit.
Not sure what kind of bike he has. Are all the 29ers tight in clearance in this area ?"

if you go to SBP , you can get the measurments that would tell you if your bike is compatable to use a shift kit.
