Great site!! Anyone know of a place in Orange County Ca. that would have various parts to help put an antique B&S 4 stroke mower engine on an older 20" Schwinn?

What kind of parts are you looking for?

I have motorized bicycle kit parts and accessories and am close to Anaheim

With an engine like that you have many challenges like gearing, weight, size etc
but if you have the time and skills .......

antique B&S 4 stroke mower engine on an older 20" Schwinn?
vertical shaft?
horizontal shaft?
Engine size?
weight?
max engine rpm?

can you keep the pedals?

Are you going to the bike meet at El Dorado park this Sunday?

A few of my customers that have made bikes like that may be there

PS: I would have been penalized 20 infraction Points on the "Inane forum" for this post :D

Forbisher,
Thanks. I am looking for the rear sprocket kit assembly. I have built and restored a number of automobiles over the years. (muscle cars) Building a 68 Nova Drag car now with my youngest (25 yrs. old) son. Putting a mower engine on a bike can't be that difficult. Maybe I'll just put the drag car motor on that bike instead!!! I'll try to get to El Dorado. Thanks for that lead!!
Thanks again

is a broad question. what is the RPM of your engine and what size wheel? Also have to work out reduction. or have you got this all worked out?

Have you seen this? Index of /ratiocalc valuable tool and fun to play with.

Hope that helps

Woops. Sorry for the spelling error. Thanks guys. Looks as though I have a little work to do to get this engineered right, as far as gearing goes. Thank you for the links to the ratio site! Will put it to good use once I retrieve the required info. I'm not sure of the RPM of the motor. I'll try Briggs site and see if I can find that info. And I thought this all would be a can a Budweiser!!!

Thanks

All of these are worth a read. Ocscully, in the first one, walked me threw it. Was/is really cool of him and to learn. Amazed at how much fun these things are. Keep posting about your progress!

There is a bunch more. I just picked the first few. In rereading one, learned from BGJoe "HP=speed and torque=pull" I had been wondering.
