Hello: Every one
I am new to chopping bikes so I have out run myself a little.
I have an old Trike I picked up for cheep and am in the process of chopping it.
I started building one of the long front ends I saw on Atomic Zombie. BUT I missed a step.
I did not make sure I had all the parts. I do not have the gooseneck. I had 3 laying around so I didn’t think it would be a problem. The trike has a 1”OD head tube. The other parts I have are for the 1.125” OD tube. I called some bike shops in the area and they are no help. Only sell high end parts.
Should I be looking for an older bike or a type of bike? I already have the front end welded so I would like to use it. Any idea of some places to look for bike Parts. (Cheep)
Thank you

Sounds like you need a cheap kids donnor bike , most of them are one inch necks.
If you find one from a "teenageers" bike there the same as old style one inchers height wise. If you can't find anything local i prob have one in my parts , i'll dig around some ,if i got one you cover shipping and it's all yours.

I score all my bike on freecycle.org. People give away crappy old bikes, especially this time of year with spring cleaning. Mix and match until you find what you need. My "goose neck" I just put together is actually an inverted fork with a bar welded to it. I think it looks cool, but I get no style points from the wife...She still hasn't got past the fact that I stole a chair out of the dining room and cut the legs off before welding it to my bike...

Shop Dog, I have a couple more places to check out. The shaft of the goose neck needs to be 13/16 od. I appreciate your offer. I have signed up on freecycle. See what that will bring. If my wife does not like the extra "art supplies" laying around I will tell her to take it up with Ferball. You sound like a wild man. I would like to see your creation.
Thanks’

Man those are great. I am inspired.
I think I found what I need. The trike has a seat that some one stuck on it in the past. Looks like that seat post is the right size.
I will let you know.

I just swapped out my dining room chair for a 2x8 chunk of board for a seat. Now I have a board seater instead of a board tracker, I also put my twist shifter on the goose neck to give me shifting on the collar.

I realty dislike the tensioner that comes with the engine kit. So I adjusted the wheel to the motor chain and used an old derailer as a tensioner on the peddle chain. I don't use the peddles as much. Bike is smoother and quieter to.
How do you like those springer front ends?

The old springer is bomb proof the new ones need some help to be reliable for an mb mainly changeing out nut and bolts and adding anti pogo spring
Right around fifty bucks but they ride nice
Are you planing a suspention system for trike?

I am thinking of suspending the seat. I have an OP cruiser with a motor on it. That is what I was thinking of the springer for. Trike has a split axle so I was thinking of peddle power on one axle and motor power on the other. I would like to put gears in there some place.
