Hello,

Ok, so I am planning out how I can make an ebike, and I've decided that I would like a pedal assist. I think my best bet would be to add a chaining freewheel on the front sprocket so that I could have the option of pedaling or using the motor. But I honestly don't know how to hook up a chainring freewheel.

What do I all need to know for hooking up a chainring freewheel to my bike?
Know of any good videos?

Thanks,
-James

I'm not using parts from a shift kit.
I thought I would be able to just buy a spocket that would have two independent freewheel on it? Does something like that exist?
Or should I just buy a kit? I already have a decent motor and batteries though.

Thanks,
-James

Very lost with how they are setting that up?
Can you offer an explanation for why they do that that way?

Thanks,
-James

I'm thinking that I don't want to buy a kit.

Maybe I should get two single speed rear freewheel sprockets and hook them up to my back hub. I think there would be enough room for them and that would also be a cheaper way to fix it. What do you think?

Yes, that looks very ideal.

Do you know where I could buy one of those rear dual freewheels? It looks like he made that out of a few different parts but doesn't specify what they are.

Thanks,

This is not my bike. It is a Custom design.

2 ACS freewheels.
one custom, one standard BMX.

8 mm chain rings might fit
http://www.electricscooterparts.com/freewheelclutches.html

Plus an adjusting cup off of a crank to hold the 2 freewheels together.

"The standard ISO threading for freewheels is 1.375 x 24 TPI, the same as for standard ISO bottom brackets."

All this is pure guesstimation on my part.
