Started my latest project it is a 2.5HP 98cc Lifan.I will be running a AGK jackshaft to the SBP shift Kit.So far I have removed the low oil sensor,stripped it of its shrouds,recoil,carb and Govenor.After removing the govenor I realized the stock carb had no adjustments.So off it came and on went the Huasheng 49cc carb.Pictures below compare the 49cc Hs on the left and the 98cc Lifan on the right.The picture of the plug is where the Govenor went into the block and the picture of the bolt is where the oil sensor went into the block....more to come

That right there is one neat looking motor! Where you find one O these? And, whats it going in? Pic of the other side of the motor please?

Ebay $125 shipped new.Also Ebay has the for cheaper used.The motor has many names Doodle bug mini bike,Lifan 98cc, 97cc(whatever thats about)Baja mini bike and more.Oh ya I think lowes sells them also.

Wow, that motor has some seriously low compression! According to my calculations that's ~2.4 max HP and 1.87HP @ 3600. The torque is nearly twice a Huasheng tho.

According to the old Greyhound 79CC manual, it's also listed as a "152F" but it makes 2.5HP @ 3600RPM with a shorter stroke (52*38MM). Big comp. difference!

Looking forward to seeing how that turns out tho. I have an AGK gearbox too and it looks like it would be easily adaptable to SBP's shift kit.

So. Its a side valve flat head? Same crank rotation as the HS? Intake and exhaust on same side of the motor???? Inquireing minds want to know!

Hey Moto! How bout a few more pic of that beast? Side by side withe the HS if possable. I'd love to see the carb exhaust arangment on that thang.

I Say! That is one fine looking flat head! I love it! As you have held and examened both this and the HS; how do they compare size wise? Width weight, height, ect? Seems like they are very close.

I was thinking the same thing, then I realized he was actually comparing it to a Honda GS100. They look quite similar.
Ummm... Not so fast. Hey Moto! First post compareo pics. Is that a HS 49cc or a GC100cc motor? Im thinking its a HS 49 but Im also the idiot who stops running motors with his finger ( shrug ) EDIT! Nevermind. Re read post one. He clearly stated motor on left is a HS 49cc. Gosh! That flathead is compact for its displacement.

Hey Moto,

Nice build! Is that 49cc carburetor bore large enough for the 98cc engine? Or does the after market filter allow enough air? Are you going to use the jet from the 98cc carburetor?

I like the GTC jackshaft. Ever thought of using a Doodle Bug clutch as shown by the GTC? I believe it uses the same 98cc engine.

Sorry about that, I misread the original post too. I can't wait to find out more about this motor (especially considering it's size related to it's displacement!).

none of the other carbs that are available have a direct hookup for a throttle cable. maybe measure the bores on each carb, the hs carb should work almost as well if it's less than 3mm difference.
