2011 Avid BB7 203mm disk brakes

2011 Avid BB7 203mm disk brakes. im getting ready to purchase a set for my mountain bike. I have 160 mm disks now but want better stopping power.
Does anyone have anything good/bad to say about them?

I've used them for two retro-fits on bikes, they're very adaptable and are a decent, affordable solution. They're mechanical of course so they don't have the same modulation that hydraulics have and you have to manually adjust the pads as they wear. Going with bigger rotors will mean more torque steer on the forks though, something to keep in mind.

I replaced the OEM disc brakes on my Diamondback Response mountain bike with BB7 203mm sets. Front is fine, but rear disc has feeler gauge clearance with the frame.

The brakes are going to go on my KHS 104 moutain bike.Its electric and really fast with the 52v lipos, but i think with the extra weight of the motor and batteries the 160mm brakes are good but i think the stopping power should be better. Also after the winter im going to go up to 78v system so making the bike safer first would probably be the smart thing to do.

The BB7/203mm's are a bargain, and so easy to install.

Wow! 78vdc!

I had an electric bike. With 36vdc, it was ok @ 16mph. When I doubled the voltage, speeds jumped to 27mph. drn2

I've not run the 203s but the 180s are awsome brakes. If the larger rotor increases stopping power, which they will, you'll love them.

You guys have told me the answer. Wanted to know if a 160mm or a 203mm would be best its a 203mm for me.
