It would depend on what kind of motor you plan on using. Neither one of those bikes is great for a china girl, but you can make do with the Schwinn.

Why those two in particular? Are they bikes you already have? Or is it something you just like for some reason?

I'm asking because you need to post more info on what you're going to do. Front or rear Friction drive, China girl, or anything else?

Give more info, and you'll get better answers. Also, go to the introduce yourself section, and introduce yourself. Who knows, you might find someone from your area, and make friends..

the tubing on both of those is a challenge for in-frame installs, one is too large of a diameter and one has poor placement. Of the two presented, id pick the Schwinn. it has front suspension, that's important.

with the schwinn, he could use a universal motor mount (the u-bolt style, not the one where you drill a hole in the frame. with the trek, looks like just abour his only options are fd or some type of chain driven rack mount.
