Bummer. I remember going to see the missions south of the Old Pueblo and trying to convert the distances on the road signs.
Anybody know why many distances on the signs on I-20 in Louisiana end in a fractions rather than whole miles? Were they converted from metric or varas?

Interesting! I know I had done in the past a few regular pedal bicycling rides of the Gourmet Century held in California. It was a metric century 100Km. On the last one I had done it was not like the other previous ones I had done where an optional hill climb or not had you cover 100Km. I didn't do the hill climb so I guess it might have not been 60mi but 50mi. 5/6 a Century ride?

when UK went metric, US should have too - but it must be complete, as a partial approach is too confusing

We aren't metric, oh no. Beer in pints, distances in miles. The kids are taught in litres and metres though.

Mind you, this is the country that resisted decimal coinage for years with the chant "It's too complicated".
