Simple thing I was wondering. I picked up a glass bowl filter, an antique one, and I can't even tell... is it supposed to have a paper filter in it? That is all and I thank you for your time.

It should have a brass screen in the top. It is a sediment bowl the water and trash falls to the bottom and is emptied out every now and then. About the only place you see them now is on old tractors.
