Hey all. I just purchased a 2 HP Tecumseh engine with 4 mounting bolts (2 above the output shaft and 2 below). It also has a 1/2"? hex output shaft.

My questions are as follows:

Has anyone here mounted an engine like this and if so, do you have any pointers as to what kind of bracket to fabricate? It will be mounted in the frame.

Since I know little about these engines, will the hex shaft cause me any problems? I intend to mount a centrifugal clutch on it.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions you may have.

A hex shaped output shaft? Really!? Now that's an odd one...
Got pix?
As for a bracket, are you asking about a mounting bracket for the engine to frame or a back plate for the primary drive?

Yup, a hex output shaft. Sorry, no pix yet, but it's a Tecumseh TC3 2.0.

The bracket will be engine to frame. I have some ideas about fabricating one, but I figured that I would fish for suggestions first:)

2 strokes they are. This one is old as the hills and still fires up with one pull.

I will take a look at that link. Thank you.
