I have tried it. I keep thinking maybe I wasn't doing something right. It is no small matter to get that generator coil close enough to the magnet without it rubbing. And no matter what I did or how I tinkered with it, I couldn't get it to keep the 6v battery charged. I checked and double checked how I had it wired (I did it right) and tested the system up and down with my multi-meter. I ended up buying a really bright battery-powered tail light instead, out of frustration. If you buy this and get it to work, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post how you did it. I'd love for something like this to actually work.

Use a piece of cardboard to fit the coil next to the magnet, works well as a spacer.
If you use the appropriate charger and battery pack from the same seller it should all work fine.

I've had mine for about 12 months and it runs fine, I used the complete kit but the lights broke and werent too strong so I wired 2x3V flashlights on the front, soldering wires to where the batteries should go.
