The movement of chain tension on the bicycle- a person has to
look really close to even notice any movement. The roller coaster
effect comes from no upper rear arm supports and a persons'
weight while riding over bumbs. This would not make any use
for off road use. Street bike only.

After riding and testing out the bicycle and letting
it soak in for a few days. This bike can be done with
the china girl engine. I will save the shift kit for another
project bike.
A person can set the engine in really low and make it
completely level. Now I can use manic mechanic carburetor
intake that i I have just sitting around. I will use SBP oversize
front tube engine adapter plate and the seat tube is a little larger
diameter size than motor mount spacer, but that can be worked out.
With manic mechanic short intake there is plenty clearance for the carburetor
without interferance of the seat tube. Get the longer 410 chain for the
proper chain length and use the stock chain tensioner because the rear suspension
movement is hardly noticable at all. Exhaust muffler should not be much of a problem.
A clam shell adapter would be a nice. I will use a nice spoked rim with coaster brakes.
The shimano internal gear 8-speed will have to be relaced with good spokes and a quality
rim- that can go on another project bike. A front drum brake rim and some nice tires with
a nice springer in front. A behind the down tube gas tank set up. That will make a nice
street motorized bike.

When all hope is dashed- pull out all resources.

GearNut... I will be doing 2-builds this winter. I will post pictures
of this build. My other build that I will be doing has already been
covered. Right now I am enjoying what good riding weather we
have left in Illinois. I am about finished with breaking in the Grubee
66cc SkyHawk engine. No major problems... just the bolt hole threads
on rightside clutch cover came out with the 2 of the bolts when adjusting
clutch. I will keep fuel mixture at 25 to one on this engine because it seems
to thrive on this mixture. The CH80 does not have this problem with threads
coming out with the bolts. Chris must retap them when he replaces the bolts
with allen heads. The only problem I had with his engine was with the plastic
float being upside down and taking on fuel. THE CH80 thrives on a 32 to 1 mixture. Monday I will switch engines again to the power king shop 67cc slant head. I hope my luck holds out on this engine too. Enjoy the riding weather.

It is amazing what a photo can do. I see now that the rear suspension pivot is in front of the bottom bracket meaning the bottom bracket moves with the suspension. This would cause problems with the Shift Kit altering the chain tension from the jackshaft to the chainrings. Oh well, better luck next time.
If it were a regular derailleur set up they could have put the pivot at the crank tube like a full suspension mtn bike has.

If my son ever gives up his full suspension bike it's gonna get chopped up for parts so I can make something similar to this.

it looks like the stretch would be an easier build...
the pivot is behind the seatpost and it looks like that jack-shaft could be extended to the drive side of engine ....
oh man, grampa has visions of nuvinci + 3" tires front n back !!!:):):)
if only I could win the lottery rotfl

Azbilll.....your grandkids are your lottery. Teach them how to pick up
nightcrawlers for you. You will have the money to buy what you want in less
than 3-months... if it was just turning spring. Teach them while they are young
because when they grow older they wise up....lol

The only problem I had with his engine was with the plastic
float being upside down and taking on fuel.
Now I find that peculiar.
All of the Grubee style floats I have had in my hand (3 of 'em) were sealed completely. There really was no top or bottom to them. They did not have a vent hole or anything like that on the top to let fuel inside if it were up-side-down.
Hmmmmm...... wierd.

GearNut ...you have to look really close at the float to
even see it. The seam is close at the top. Azbill alerted me
about this on a carburetor thread.
I am going ahead and mount a engine to the soft ride cruiser
sometime this morning. I have to know if my muse intuition is
correct about this bicycle. I will use a SBP 1-5/8 inch front
tube adapter. The 1-1/2 inch one is really the one I need
more likely. The engine mount extention spacer for the down tube
will be out of a Grubee kit that has the larger size mount.
I am pretty sure this will be a direct bolt on. I will peddle the bike
around for a couple of days with just the motor mounted and see
if the rear mount holds up with out stripping out.

Mounting the motor that low took away the roller coaster ride effect.
I got a fairly accurate measurement of moment and is 3/16 of an inch.
I believe this build is going to work out ok. So these bicycles are not
really rear suspension- yes they do have the looks of one. It is nothing
more than a fancy seat post suspension. It is just terrible the way
people try to pull the wool over your eyes anymore.

Thankyou for posting the progress pics. This is looking really good!
I am sorry to hear that the rear suspension does not do much. It certainly looks like it would...?
I am really diggin' that Manic Mechanic intake manifold. It looks much better than the dog legged stock one, and I bet it out performs the stock one as well.

it looks like the shock is a standard full-suspension mtn bike deal...
perhaps it could be replaced with a higher quality, more adjustable one ???
that might help

I remember changing the stock shock on my Haro full-suspension to a fox 'float' made a world of difference in that bike

btw...did you ask his price on a stretch?, I think you said the cruiser was 300?

The bicycle frame has its' plus signs. The best is the advantage of
mounting the engine completely level and being able to use manic mechanic
short improved intake that allows improved low end performance. Origanily
I thought a person could not use a stock tank on the bars but I was wrong
on that. The seat popst with seat sits you high above the top bar. My plans
are to mount the chain adjuster on the down tube to go over the top of chain
where most people chain binding problems happen. I can also back off tne spring
tension on the shock for expertmenting for a softer ride. In all that I said I think
the bicycle was worth the $300.00.
Rusty Spokes wants people to go through his internet web-site to order
the bicycles. The last time I looked the bicycle that I ordered over the phone
was $379.00. I did some research and found that he has to buy in lots of
better than 300 bicycles that are already boxed up. With that being said,
I do believe he has to be able to bargain a price for a customer. My shipping
price was only $45.00 through UPS.
I have to make up my mind on a rear wheel for this build with manic mechanic
top hat or spooky tooth HD wheel. I have the rear drum brake worksman wheel
and can not find anyone that can find the time for measurements,

After some nice riding weather. The Grubee Gt 5 skyhawk 66cc is also a very
impressive runner on my break-in bicycle. We got a pretty good rain
here and that gave me time to investigate the rear set up on this
bicycle. The Shimano 8-speed internal gear hub spreads the rear
axle holder out 5 1/2 inches. The chain side alignment is correct
but that throws the front and rear wheel alignment way off. That is what
is causing the wooble in the front wheel. So this bike is not made for the
internal gear set up.
After looking around in my machine shed, I found a SHIMANO E-110
coaster hub wheel that I forgot completely about. It is the 26" velocity
triple v rim-6000, series aluminum, 36 spoke, 2.5mm stainless steel spokes,
solid axle with 10mmx 7 1/4". I will try some different places today to get
this hub measured for the manic machanic hub adapter.
The bike is extended a little over 3" compared to measurements of a
Schwinn Landmark.
