So in other words, you can run a one speed chain on a derailleur chain wheel (but not on the multi-cogs) but you can't run a derailleur chain on a one speed front sprocket. They're just force-us- to-buy -and-use- a -heavier chain funny that way! A 415 motor chain is also 1/2 inch pitch then, but even wider, and- then of course!- pocket bike and mini bike motors chains and sprockets have ANOTHER incompatibility factor built in- so you'll more likely give up, take the car, and spend more of your tax dollars buying gasoiline.

NashKat, you have a terrible attitude about all of this.
Bicycle chain has been 1/2" pitch for years, with few exceptions. As long as bikes were single speed, there was no problem. When we demanded gear-changing, the engineers found an answer, but it also involved slimming down the chain.

Industrial chain was developed all over the world, for many different uses.
Engineering societies worked hard to bring in standards, and did a pretty good job, but no one chain will fit all needs, even in one size.

There is no conspiracy. "THEY" are not out to screw you. Don't take it so personal.
