I see these boost bottles on eBay....would they work on a friction drive like a 26cc weed wacker?

Sure they would work!
Not really convinced it would make any improvement to your engine, though.

The general opinion, ...is that it's KOOL to say "I've got a Boost Bottle on my bike!"
And they are kinda neato lookin'.

IMO you should keep that $ in your pocket.

Everybody I know, with only one exception, tried and gave up on boost bottles as not being worth the effort.

The exception was a friend with a 250 MZ, they were famed for their inability to idle. Just the bike, not him, he was quite busy. He made and fitted one. It worked, which was good, but the rubber mounted engine and natural periodicity of the frame meant the bike would walk furtively backwards; many times he left home in the morning for work, turned, waved goodbye to his mother, turned back and completely failed to mount a motorcycle which was no longer there, collapsing in a grubby and beer stained heap on the floor.
