Hi,

First of all just wanted to introduce myself here. Life long motorcyclist and bicyclist here who does all my own maintenance and enjoys tinkering.

So I've got this 49cc pocket bike sitting in my shop with a strong engine but no one rides it (hard tail chopper). I've got this steel framed mountain bike sitting in the basement that no one rides.

One day a lightbulb goes off in my head and next thing you know here I am. :)

So I've figured out how to mount the engine. I'm a little stuck on how exactly to set up the drive.

I'm all about going simple and as low cost as possible here.

The existing sprockets on the pocket bike don't seem like they'd be the right gear ratio for a 26" mtb. And I see most of the pre-assembled kits come with chain sizes other than 05T.

So what is the best way to adapt the output shaft of the pocket bike's gearbox (gear driven) to a common size chain that will also allow a wide choice of sprocket sizes?

Freewheel front sprocket?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
