Entry Fees For March 17th Race Only:

Racers: $35
Same Racer, Second Bike: +$20
Same Racer, 3rd (or more) Bike(s): free.

Cruisers (This is for people who want to ride the track in practice, but don't want to compete): $25

NOTICE! PIT PASS PRICE CHANGE!
pit pass is FREE to all racers and ONE guest per racer.
more than one guest, $5 flat fee per group, within reason. (i have to pay a "wristband" fee, so if you come down with 20 people who aren't racing, you gotta kick down some money if you want them all in your pits.

Spectators are free, but due to insurance, ARE NOT allowed in the pits. you must stay out of the pit area, meaning, if you wanna see the bikes, you either pay the pit pass, or see them from the bleachers.

Overnight Camping is FREE. Alcohol, BBQ's are permitted in the Camping Area ONLY.
(anyone who wants to camp out, please contact me. i need to inform the track operators so the gates aren't locked.)

ABSOLUTELY NO ALCOHOL OR FIRES IN THE PITS.

NOTICE: Race Fees may change for future races.

since no volunteers, uh, volunteered, here's the deal:

this will be a Work/Run Event.

what that means, is EVERYONE who enters will have to work the track, help score, etc.

basically, you will have to hold a flag for ONE heat, or some other easy task.

it's pretty simple, and many forms of amateur racing use this method to cut down on expenses, and to have everyone participate.

it's 20 minutes of your life, then you can go back to hanging out in the pits.

not too much to ask, right?

here's the real story about Transponders. they're expensive. (if you don't know what a transponder is, it's an electronic device that monitors your lap position and lap time.)

the cheapest i've seen to buy, are $150 each. plus, you need the software, etc for them to work. at 20 riders in a heat, you do the math.

i've seen tracks that will rent them for a $200 deposit. each. at 20 riders in a heat, plus a few extras that get broken, lost, etc, again, you do the math.

I can't buy or pay a deposit on something that's gonna be haphazardly ziptied to a bicycle somewhere, cut off and switched to another bike between every heat, with a high probability of getting broken, without charging astronomical entry fees.

as much as i would love to have scoring and individual lap times recorded electronically and professionally, it's just not possible on the small scale we're racing at.

My Idea is to have competent people scoring, backed up with video at the start/finish line.

I'm open to other suggestions...

Sweet!
More race dates are allways a good thing for the die hard race fans.....

I really need to look at re-locating out of the rust belt & into the scene.
No way i can keep running out there from michigan to support theis super fun activity.

this is awsome news.
I'll spread the word.
Which event will be the world championship? I'll plan to attend that one :)

I love your rule set, its exactly how it should be.

I am also glad to see the realistic safety gear requirements.

Expect some fast electric bicycles to crawl out of the woodwork for this.

Baird forget to mention no electrics at his events... It just not fair...jk lol

I know you were just kidding there, and i liked it, but on a serious note, someday you guys will all see the light, and your bikes won't go put-put and stink anymore. :p

This is coming from a guy who dedicated the first 10 years of adult life to internal combustion engine design, development, advanced tuning and racing development programs.

The only reason I still have and race gasoline superbikes and my gasoline/alcohol/nitrous racecars is because I haven't had the time to convert everything to electric yet.

I would currently never build new combustion powered vehicles though, it's simply a worse way to power something.

The sooner you guys jump on the electric path, the happier you're all going to be. :)

i'm still working out the details, rules, etc.

the first race, i just want it to be a fun event, where everyone can ride. there'll be basic classes, like 2 stroke stock, modified, slow 4 stroke, crazy 4 stroke, electric cruisers and electric time machines. and everything else will fit in there somewhere.

the race in june will be more formal. not many more rules, just more organized.

safety rules are the result of insurance and common sense. i don't want anyone going down and getting hurt. you might think bicycle gear is fine, until someone plows into you from behind.

if your bike's aren't ready, bring what you got and hang out.

i'll have more details up this week.
