I didn't read those threads Dave just posted, but IMO the skinny tires are real susceptible to damage from road hazards, debris, and pavement cracks.
Them bicycle racer guys fall down quite frequently, with enthusiasm!
The one guy that doesn't fall down is frequently the one who wins the race!
I'd rather not fall down! lol
Auggie had written that he was glad to run a middle width tire when he went to the salt flats for his speed run, because he said the cracks in the salt could have swallowed up a narrower tire!
Perhaps this summer I'll be able to build my speed bike, and I'll use a narrow racer tire, but it will only be rode for a single run, on pavement, for a flying 1/4 mile and in a straight line only. Basically, it will be ridiculous.
