It wouldn't hurt to cover the bike with a tarp if you expect it to get wet.
Two areas you want to keep dry. The fuel tank cap and the magneto cover, left side of engine. Really heavy rain might find its way into the carburetor around the throttle cable but we're only talking about a little moisture. Not gallons.
Plastic tarps are easy to find and cheap. Why not cover the bike? Even if you pack the tarp in a backpack or saddle bag for when you're away from home.

I agree with the above statements... The part you do NOT want to get wet is the magneto coil under the left side cover, but you also don't want any water to sneak into your gas tank either since these gas caps don't seal that well. The carb is vulnerable especially if you got one of those K&N clone filters, and of course, the throttle cable can drip water into the carb or make your cable start to stick or bind after prolonged exposure to the elements.
Best thing to do is cover it with a plastic tarp if you have no way to store it indoors or under a roof like in a carport etc...

And while you're sealing up that magneto cover, why don't you go ahead and do the same thing to that clutch cover?

yup... rust on the friction plates acts like sandpaper on the pucks and any exposed bearings or seals...
