Does anyone have spoke threading tools to be able to cut and re-thread spokes to any custom length? I will need 36 12g spokes cut and re-threaded. I will let you know the length once I calculate it. I will pay to ship the spokes to you and pay you to ship them back. how much will you charge me? you must have proper spoke cutting/threading tools. a regular thread cutting tool is not the proper way to thread a spoke. let me know what you will charge and we will go from there.

I will call the local shops and see, but I'm really not sure if any of them do that sort of thing. The shops here mostly cater to the spandex crowd and that sort of thing.

Found custom spokes on ebay for $1 apiece with free shipping from cali. If my calculations are correct, the length I need is 240mm. The seller does anywhere from 193-268mm. Cheaper than Holmes hobbies which charges $1.99 apiece.

If I remember right....you're adding a 7" drum to a 24" wheel? I'm assuming 36spoke....they're not gonna be that long
A 6" hub (av88) in a 26" wheel is only 230-234mm.......4 1\2" in 26"...9 13\16.....you need alot less

19" motorcycle rim...measured across.....bicycle measure across the tire too....so a 26" bicycle wheel is 26" tall on top the tire....that's where people get lost.

Ok the 19" rim is actually only 18.75" at the outside diameter, about 17" from spoke hole to spoke hole, and the hub is only 6.5" and the flange diameter is 5.75". This wheel has 168mm spokes. The online spoke length calculator I used gave me a length of 235mm, I figured just to play it safe get 240mm because that gives me a little error room in case my calculations are a little off and I can cut off the extra after its trued.

Here is something interesting. I subtracted the difference between the length of the spokes that came with the wheel (168mm) and the length I calculated (235mm) and the difference is 67mm or 2.63". Then I divided my spoke flange diameter (5.75") in half and that gives me 2.875", or 73mm. So that seems interesting to me.

I understand your thoughts on playing it safe with longer spokes. I have found that playing it safe on the shorter side worked better for me. Some wheels will require more tension on certain spokes in order to be true. It is possible to run out of threads. The shank of the spoke will not pass through the nipple. The best case scenario is to have some threads showing so you are never maxed out.

You really do not want to cut or grind those spokes in the wheel after it you took all the time to true it. Another option is to have longer nipples if your a touch shy. Good luck and have fun.

I tried a different online spoke length calculator, and the measurements it asked for were much less confusing than the first one I tried. This time it gave me a length of 230mm.

Grease, Have you tried using the wheelpro calculator? Do you know what your exact ERD is? Did the calculator you used have a flange to flange width dimension? If not google wheelpro spoke length calc and enjoy reading alot of valuable information.
