Need brakes

i have a heavy duty axle on my ride and the band brake is ok but i was wondering if i took the band brake off would i be able to put a disc brake in its place. meaning would the conversion piece fit on the hub? .

Probably not. You would need to add a rim brake. Post a pic of your hub for a better answer.

We probably need more info on your rig.

it occurs to me that purchase of a hub with a disc flange on it would be best.

If your bike doesn't have provisions for mounting the caliper you'll have to fabricate mounts. That will take some engineering and fabrication skills.

sorry my camera is broke. but my hub is the HD grubee axle with the band brake. i was thinking maybe if i took off the band brake maybe i can screw on a disc adapter. if it would fit. im not sure. as for mounting a caliper it wont be a problem. i would just weld some type of post for it. but just dont know if something like that would work with this hub.
