hey gang, I came across an intresting find in my folks basement, a 12v chainsaw ? after a little tinkering i was able to pull of the old sawchain gear and it looks like with the right woodruff key a drive sprocket off an motorized bicycle will fit the spindle ... so any body else build a true hybrid bike?
so far two paths present them self's 1 : run the motor drive to a jack shaft coupled to elec motor. or 2: mount elec motor to seat post and use some type of chain tensoning device. in the long run my goal is to be able to use elec motor for short trips (3or4 blocks) and to run up to starting speed for gas motor . the system will hopefully charge the batt. while runing gas motor and run lights ,etc.
have found some nice sealed gel cell 6v batt.s that will fit into saddlebags well .
so any ideas or advice? I am looking for help w/ a "soft start" board for elec motor as the saw curently goes to full torque to fast to use ?
